Unless you work at Stirling Cooper (the 1960s advertising agency made famous by HBO’s ‘Mad Men’), you’re unlikely to have your own in-house copywriting team. These days, most creative agencies either develop advertising copy themselves, or they outsource it to freelance writers. Unless you really know and trust your freelance copywriter – or your graphic designer has Shakespearean tendencies – neither approach is ideal. And employing a full-time copywriter is expensive – and probably unnecessary, too.
